TEXT: 2 Corinthians 1: 8 – 10

Life on earth is a mixture of joys and sorrows, victories and defeats, profit and loss. No one gains all the time. There are times of plenty and lack, problems and solutions. Life is full of times of good understanding and misunderstanding by others etc. What problems, hurts, trials, praises and condemnations have you been through in life so far? Know that God in his wisdom and love uses both painful and pleasant experiences most of the time to shape us for a greater life or tomorrow. In the economy of God there is no waste of anything including all the hurts and pains he has allowed to come your way. He wants you to humbly submit and learn from it.

Your great hurt or disappointment could bring out the best in your life. Who could be better qualified to minister or encourage parents who lost a promising young graduate than those who have gone through such painful experience and survived. Who could better help a young lady with a broken heart because of the disappointment she has suffered in the hands of a man of her dreams, than one who once went through such ordeal and came out strong. The person better qualified to help an alcoholic recover is someone who through the grace of God fought that bad and sinful habit and found freedom or salvation at last through faith in Christ Jesus.

One author says, “The things you are most embarrassed about, most ashamed of, and most reluctant to share are the very tools God can use most powerfully to heal others”. Don’t be afraid to share your painful experiences with others. Doing so could be fulfilling the divine purpose why God allowed you to pass through it. The apostle Paul has this to say to the Church at Corinth: “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God” (2 Corinthians 1: 3-4).

God is interested in whatever painful experience you are passing through right now. He will give you victory, he will deliver you, that you in turn might be a blessing to others around you who are hurting. May the comfort of the Holy Spirit be multiplied to you in Jesus name.
