– Ephesians 4:30-32

We are imperfect human beings who will someday attend perfection in God’s eternal Kingdom, when we must have put on immortality, by the reason of our redemption in Christ Jesus. Before that takes place, hurting each other or one another intentionally and sometimes unintentionally in this life is inevitable. This becomes very obvious when people stay together for a long enough time in a home, family or community in either way, you need mercy, grace and forgiveness to create and maintain peaceful relationships. In moments like that, God has a word for those who care. “You must make allowance for each other’s faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.” (Colossians 3:13 NLT). No relationship or fellowship can survive without the players giving and receiving forgiveness from one another. God is asking us not to hold grudges because bitterness and resentment kill unity. “Never hold grudges”, the Holy Spirit warns. (Col. 3:13) LB. True or Biblical forgiveness is letting go the past. That is the type of forgiveness we have received from God.

Are you hurting by reason of mistreatments meted to you by a trusted friend, neighbour, brother, sister, husband, wife, father, mother or children? Ask God for the grace to overcome the hurt through forgiveness. The grace is there for you. Forgiveness brings healing, Peace and freedom to a hurting heart injured by offenses. God is honored when broken relationships among His people are restored. He wants us to strive to maintain peace and unity instead of ignoring them whenever there is a quarrel, a hurt or a conflict. The Bible says God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God” (Matt. 5:9) NLT. Are you hurting because of the many wrong things you have done in life? God is waiting for you to ask for his mercy and forgiveness and to turn your life over to Jesus. Make Him today your Saviour and Lord. If you do, that marks the beginning of a new life of victory and blessings from God to you. May God bless you as you respond to His word.
